The fiber service of Google is continuously in operations since 2012.  If you will compare with other fiber alternative offers, you can find the Google fiber 1000 Mbps plan is cheaper as compare to other service providers in United States.

While other ISP Providers has a rarity which gives them an opportunity to raise the prices under the cover of hidden charges.

Customers are savings already $20 a month on the 1000 Mbps plan since it was launched in 2016. the fiber internet connection provide more than download and upload speed which is more than enough for streaming purpose. For instance, Netflix recommend 25Mbps for its 4K Videos streaming’s.

If you are using Google Stadia games with 4K resolution, and 60 frames per second with HDR than Google recommends only 35Mbps for high quality results though the fiber plan is more than enough.
